Watching summer thunderstorms roll over Mono Lake – wearable art scarf

watching rain clouds above mono lake handmade wearable art scarf

With summer thunderstorms rolling through, we headed high above Mono Lake and Highway 395 for a better overview. It was beautiful to watch the rain bands moving over the lake, but I didn’t have long to get this photograph. The storm brought thunder and lightning and above treeline, we were feeling pretty exposed.

Coffee with my purple lupine wildflower scarf

purple lupine wildflower scarf handmade green mountain mug

Starting the day off right with one of my favorite coffee mug made by Theresa Otto. It features our local Eastern Sierra mountain range! Do you have her handmade pottery? You can find them at Inyo Council for the Arts, Mono Arts Council and at local art shows.

And it happens to match my Purple Lupine Wildflower scarf. I designed this scarf with my photo of lupines blooming just up the hill in Bodie, overlooking this popular California ghost town. Today, I tied the corners of this long scarf together and wrapped it around my neck like an infinity scarf… such an easy way to wear it, especially for shorter ones.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope your day is a creative one with a good dose of the great outdoors!

Mono Lake at Sunset summer scarf in purples, pinks and blue hues

I just finished this new summer scarf with my photo of an amazing Mono Lake sunset. I’m really happy to have found a way to make these longer scarves with my photos! It’s so fun to wear a piece of the Eastern Sierra and it makes me excited to do more of what I love – designing functional things from my nature photography.

This has become my go-to scarf – it is fun to wrap a beautiful sunset in the forest around my shoulders or neck. It goes with so much in my closet, too – blacks, pinks, purples. Where do you see yourself wearing this to?
