Bodie Ghost Town history and photo wall art

Bodie ghost town books textile wall art

Catching up on my Bodie ghost town history in preparation for Friends of Bodie Day 2019!

Terri Geissinger’s book, Images of America, Bodie: 1859-1962 has some great historic photos and snippets of what life was like for the residents of the California gold mining town. The self-guided walking brochure is another great resource for Bodie State Historic Park stories and old photos.

I’ll be showing my photography of Bodie on textiles made into pillows, scarves, bags and wall art like this one – Stormy Bodie Wallhanging. Continue reading Bodie Ghost Town history and photo wall art

Wildflowers everywhere – including on my living room walls

purple lupine pink indian paintbrush wall art handmade pillows

What a year for wildflowers. On our outdoor adventures lately, my husband and I have been amazed by amount of beautiful wildflowers in the Eastern Sierra right now. They are blanketing the landscapes everywhere! I can’t wait to make more wallhangings and pillows with my wildflower photographs, like these. The cool thing is my wildflower textile prints and pillows stay vibrant and beautiful all year-round, no matter what the weather is doing!

Could you use some bright, cheer-ey wildflowers for your walls, too?

I love looking at this wallhanging and remembering my hike in Rock Creek Canyon out of Mosquito Flats that summer evening I shot that photograph. The lighting kept getting better and better and we kept hiking farther and farther into the lush valleys. The stillness at the edge of this lake gave me the mirror-like reflection of the snow-capped mountains and forest. It also brought out swarms of hungry mosquitos! It was worth it, though, to experience this gorgeous scene in the great outdoors and capture this Eastern Sierra gem to share with you.
